Reflections on a Transformative Conference Experience

My heart is so full. I’m so thankful for every person that had a part in making this weekend so special.

This year’s conference was so much fun, and while I’m tired, I’m also a little sad to see it end. I’m so thankful for our amazing A/V team because I’m going to have to listen several more times to glean all the wisdom that was shared this weekend.

I met so many amazing attendees, made some new forever friends, and created some really fun memories. There was something so special about being surrounded by people from so many different places and backgrounds who came together with a shared hunger to fight this war we are in. I love seeing the body of Christ bringing their piece of the puzzle together with others in the field to help survivors heal.

I learned so much from all the speakers that I think I’m a little overloaded. I need to write for a few minutes just to settle my mind enough to sleep.

I expected the Voices of the Warrior Bride night to be beautiful because I had heard everyone practicing. But I never expected them to usher in the Holy Spirit on the level that they did. Chains we will never hear about were breaking. Healing was happening in deep places that some of us had never been able to reach before. It is such a blessing to be on this healing journey with this crew of overcomers.

The courage they showed inspired so many people, but I want to tell you what it did for me.

I’ve had a real battle with one person who keeps crossing my path in the most annoying ways. Every time they did, my little parts would get hurt. They would lose something special to them, feel betrayed, or become angry that this person was there.

It was so hard to deal with because my parts weren’t wrong. Promises had been broken. Things they had been excited about and looking forward to for months couldn’t happen because this person would show up. It got so bad that some of them were refusing to come out, while others had given up hope that anything would ever change. At the end of the day, they felt like they didn’t matter.

No amount of logic can heal a wounded attachment injury, and logic was all I could give them for a long time. These things started happening several years ago, before I had earned the trust of my parts. My attempts to comfort them were not what they wanted or needed from me then.

As I listened to each survivor perform, it was so evident that they were doing it as an act of worship to the Lord. I could feel the deep gratitude for what Yahweh has done for them in every performance.

As I watched them and thought about how this absolutely has to become an annual event, Yahweh unexpectedly brought the person I had struggled with so much to my mind. Waves of compassion and forgiveness flooded over me, and I felt completely undone in His presence.

The survivors were offering their acts of worship in their own unique ways, and Yahweh used them mightily. Healing was happening in the room, and healing was happening inside of me.

He told me to prepare a new wineskin, and I’ve worked really hard to do that. But I never imagined all the different ways preparing it would help me grow. I’m not even sure how much new wine is in it yet. I feel like He is doing a new thing that we haven’t seen completely unfold. But this weekend was definitely the beginning of stepping into something new.

Every conference becomes a kind of measuring stick for me. It gives me a moment to look back over the previous year and see how I’ve grown and what healing has occurred. I learned so much about myself this weekend. I am so in awe of what He is doing that I can’t even put it all into words yet. He is so faithful, and I love Him so much!! I can’t believe I get to live this life!!!
